Chocolate chip cookies are, arguably, the most popular cookie on the cookie market. Obviously there are other cookies that are enjoyable, but the most recognizable and the most popular is absolutely the chocolate chip cookie. Most people will agree that homemade chocolate chip cookies are far superior to those that are bought in a store. The internet is full of homemade chocolate chip cookie recipes. Here is one of the homemade chocolate chip cookie recipes that we like the best:
You will need to have the following ingredients:
One cup or two sticks of unsalted butter that is softened
Three fourths of a cup of white sugar (granulated)
Three fourths of a cup of packed brown sugar
One Teaspoon of vanilla extract or vanilla flavoring
Two large eggs
Two and one fourth of a cup of white, all purpose flour
One teaspoon of salt
One teaspoon of baking soda
Chocolate Chips
Other additives that you want to try (some people like to add nuts, oatmeal or candy)
Here is the procedure that you should follow. It's an easy process and takes almost no time at all:
Preheat your oven to three hundred and seventy five degrees Fahrenheit
While your oven is preheating, in a large bowl combine the butter, the brown sugar, the white sugar and the vanilla extract (or vanilla flavoring). These need to get mixed together until they form a uniform creamy mixture. To this mixture you will want to add the large eggs. The eggs should get beaten in one at a time and you should make sure to mix them in thoroughly before adding anything else. In another (smaller bowl) you will want to mix together the flour, the salt and the baking soda. Give these ingredients a quick stir and then slowly add them to your creamy mixture in the large bowl. Beat the ingredients together until they form a smooth and malleable cookie dough. Your last step to this process is to add the chocolate chips or whatever else you want to add (nuts, candy, etc). Most homemade chocolate chip cookie recipes call for two cups of chocolate chips, but you can add as many or as few as you want.
Use a teaspoon to scoop up little drops of cookie dough and then drop the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Make sure the drops are a couple of inches apart, because they will need to spread out. The cookie dough tastes the best when it has been cooked for nine to ten minutes.
Let the cookies cool for on cooling racks for ten to fifteen minutes before eating them. Cooling racks can be found at most stores for very little money.
Homemade chocolate chip cookie recipes vary according to personal taste and substitutions. Some people prefer to use only one egg, some recipes call for shortening or cream of tartar. The good news about homemade chocolate chip cookie recipes is that you can change them to fit your needs.
Tip #1
You can save cookie making time by mixing your ingredients while your oven preheats. That way your dough can go right into the oven when you finish mixing your ingredients. You can also save time by cleaning up as you go along. Rinse off the measuring spoons and the bowls as you finish using them. Wash the rest of the dishes as the cookies are baking and cooling. |
Tip #2
Shortening is one of the single worst things you can put into your body. If a recipe calls for shortening you should substitute butter or margarine for it. Butter and margarine can be used interchangeably unless a recipe specifically says to use one or the others. Don't worry about the calories and talk yourself into using low calorie or whipped butter. These substitutes will ruin the taste of the cookies. |
Tip #3
Rotate your cookie sheets. Cookies form best on ungreased and cooled cookie sheets. After you transfer cookies from the sheet to the cooling rack, you should rinse off the used sheet and get it prepped for another batch of cookies. Using a warmed sheet can overcook the cookies. |
