Chocolate chip cookies are a staple in most households. We all ate them as children, whether they were made for us from scratch or given to us from a bag of pre-made cookies. We can all agree, of course, that home made chocolate chip cookies are the best. Chocolate chip cookie preferences vary, of course. Some people like firmer cookies, some like crispier cookies and of course some people like chewy chocolate chip cookies. Here is a really good chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe for you to follow, should you get a craving for a home made snack.
Typically cookies can be made chewy or crispy with just a couple of adjustments to ingredients or cooking time.

Three fourths of a cup of white sugar (granulated)
Three fourths of a cup of brown sugar (packed)
One teaspoon of vanilla flavoring or vanilla extract

4. Add one large egg to the creamy mixture and beat thoroughly.

To make your chocolate chip cookies Chewy:
Drop your cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, taking care to keep the drops a couple of inches apart. The cookies should cook for only six or seven minutes. The edges will be golden brown but the middle will still be soft and chewy.
The chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe is easy, especially as you can vary it to fit your needs. The only thing that really makes the cookies chewy is the amount of time the dough spends in the oven. The longer you cook the dough, the crunchier and crispier the cookies will be. Conversely, if you take the cookie dough out of the oven sooner, the middles of the cookies will stay soft and chewy. The best chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe to use is your favorite standard chocolate chip cookie recipe and just adjust the baking time!
Tip #1
You can save cookie making time by mixing your ingredients while your oven preheats. That way your dough can go right into the oven when you finish mixing your ingredients. You can also save time by cleaning up as you go along. Rinse off the measuring spoons and the bowls as you finish using them. Wash the rest of the dishes as the cookies are baking and cooling. |
Tip #2
Shortening is one of the single worst things you can put into your body. If a recipe calls for shortening you should substitute butter or margarine for it. Butter and margarine can be used interchangeably unless a recipe specifically says to use one or the others. Don't worry about the calories and talk yourself into using low calorie or whipped butter. These substitutes will ruin the taste of the cookies. |
Tip #3
Rotate your cookie sheets. Cookies form best on ungreased and cooled cookie sheets. After you transfer cookies from the sheet to the cooling rack, you should rinse off the used sheet and get it prepped for another batch of cookies. Using a warmed sheet can overcook the cookies. |
